About Me

I worked for many years as a professional photographer, travelling widely on documentary projects before moving into the fashion and celebrity world as a photo director. Based largely in London and often working in the US, I was immersed in a fast-paced, demanding creative industry, where long hours, constant pressure, and high expectations were part of everyday life.

Over time, I chose a quieter life, closer to nature. My work shifted too, towards projects rooted in everyday life — food, gardening, and books — including collaborations with writer and presenter Monty Don.

Alongside these changes, my interest in the connection between mind, body, and inner life deepened. During this period, I explored a range of practices including Qigong, meditation, and body-based therapies, both in the UK and while spending time in the US. This exploration helped me understand the importance of working directly with the body and paying attention to how stress and change are held physically.

With the encouragement of experienced teachers and mentors, I began formal training in Reiki and craniosacral therapy, alongside developing my intuitive practice. I have also completed Level 2 counselling training, which supports the way I work ethically and responsibly in one-to-one settings.

I now offer one-to-one support through Reiki, intuitive healing, and Qigong, working with people during times of stress, change, and uncertainty. I also work in hospice care, supporting individuals, families, and carers. This work continues to shape and inform my practice.

My approach is calm, practical, and responsive. I meet people where they are, offering space to pause, reflect, and regain a sense of steadiness.

Awena Retreat grew out of this path. The name comes from a Welsh word meaning “inspiration” or “flowing river,” reflecting the natural movement and change that runs through life. The work here is grounded and simple — offering calm, clarity, and support when life feels demanding.
